SunStone’s Boundless-class project moves ahead

SunStone’s Boundless-class project moves aheadSunStone Ships is moving ahead with plans to place an order for a number of newbuildings.

The Miami-based expedition cruise ship tonnage provider is working on the specifications of what will be known as the Boundless class of ships, CEO Niels-Erik Lund told CruiseTimes.

“Next week the specification will be finished, and next week we will also send a first questionnaire to several shipyards, to begin our shortlisting,” he said in an emailed response on 1 November 2021.

Earlier, Lund had said that an order could be placed before the end of this year. The plan was to build at least three, probably more, Boundless-class ships.

They would have a gross tonnage of 12,000 to 13,000, which is significantly bigger than the roughly 8,000 of the Infinity-class ships that are currently being built in China.
